Designed for all types of industrial needs, the BA Wearers’ Course is 25% theory and 75% practical. All of BHB’s staff are qualified breathing apparatus instructors and service engineers. Medical checklists, individual assessments and physical exercises will, be carried out on the course. 

It will meet all EEC standards for those who may be required to work in confined spaces and participate in the emergency procedures from within a confined space. It is also, designed for those who have not received any Breathing Apparatus training in the past. It will take them through progressive steps that will give them the confidence to work in confined spaces and prepare them may they have to affect emergency procedures.
Course programme:

On completion of this course participants will be able to:
• List the Regulations applicable to the BA
• Describe the principles of respiration
• Construct BA
• List BA procedures
• Service and maintain BA equipment

Designed for industrial needs, the Breathing Apparatus Refresher Course is suitable for all wearers who have received a formal certification in Breathing Apparatus (BA). Refresher training should be undertaken by each wearer at least once a year.


On completion of this course participants will be able to :
•  List the regulations applicable to the use of BA 
•  Describe the principles of respiration 
•  Don and Start up BA 
•  List BA procedures 
•  Service and maintain BA equipment

This four day course is designed to increase the skills, knowledge and methods of instruction of students to a level from which they can competently deliver BA training themselves.  Both the practical and theoretical aspects of Breathing Apparatus (BA) will be covered.  NB only delegates who have been already trained in the ise of BA my attend.

Duration ½ day
This course is aimed at those working in all sectors where an airborne contaminant may be encountered – health sector, agriculture, industry and manufacturing including pharmaceutical, chemical, engineering, wood-working, food industry, construction. It is aimed at providing an overview for those with limited experience, those in small/medium enterprises and those involved as part of a team carrying out CoSHH assessments.

This course, pitched at those who are new to, or who have little experience in implementing CoSHH outlines legislative responsibilities, guidelines and risks associated with airborne hazards. The course will offer practical guidance and develop an understanding of the following:

• Introduction to the legislation
• Identification of hazards
• Materials safety data sheets
• Risks phrases
• Monitoring and measurement of airborne hazards
• The hierarchy of control
• Overview of control measures
• CoSHH assessments

Duration ½ day 

This course is aimed at those working in all sectors where the wearing of RPE may be required – healthcare sector, agriculture, industry and manufacturing including pharmaceutical, chemical, engineering, wood-working, food industry, construction. It is aimed at providing a practical and interesting overview for those with limited experience, those in small/medium enterprises or those involved in the selection or wearing of RPE.
Attendees to this training will be provided with the knowledge to

• Understand the legal obligation on employers and employees.
• Understand correct selection of RPE.
• Understand the interaction between the wearing of RPE and demands of the job.
• Understand how to correctly identify, wear and maintain RPE
• Create a greater awareness and positive attitude towards the wearing of RPE.
